Laura's Story
Renting felt like such a waste of money, so we decided to buy after I came into some money. I knew I'd be in London for a while so it made sense.
I bought with my sister, and I have to say it was a very good move. Actually I had no problems with the purchasing at all. This might have been due to the fact I had a good Independent Financial Advisor to help me through it. Also the property was a new build so there was no chain. The whole sale went through in less than a month.
I was so excited about owning my own place. My Dad supported me as well, so I knew there were people around if anything went wrong, but on the whole it was a very good experience.
Laura's thoughts
Using a professional like an IFA (Independent Financial Advisor) really seemed to make everything a lot smoother. I'd recommend that to people.
The only thing that got me down was seeing how much stamp duty I had to pay. I was in the 3% bracket and it stung, knowing the money was just going to be taken from me.
Everything eventually went according to plan for us, so it was really quite an easy process.
