Saika's Story

I was renting for a while. It wasn't in a very nice area, and I worked out I could afford to move and buy a better house in a better area, which would be my own place. So it wasn't a hard decision to make. The place I've got now is going to be a family home for a long time, I hope.

Saika's thoughts

I started off looking in the cheaper areas I thought I could afford, but that was a mistake as there were properties in nicer parts which fell into my price bracket. So I'd always say to people that you should look where you want to live, rather than just where you think you can afford to live.

If I had to move again, I wouldn't let myself be bullied by estate agents. I ended up pulling out of one deal very late because I was treated very badly by an estate agent.

I've also learned that you can take your time. The pressure is usually on to move quickly, but it shouldn't be. As a buyer, you're making a huge investment and really you shouldn't feel rushed or pressured.
